Fern & Moon in Bronte Bride
We’re thrilled to be featured in Bronte Bride! This vintage-inspired wedding editorial highlights the Rowen bodysuit, Portia ankle skirt, and Margaret overskirt. These mix-and-match pieces mean brides can build an outfit that fits their style and plans for their wedding.
From the Photographer
“With the smaller weddings we’ve been seeing these past two years, more and more couples have been stepping out the box when it comes to wedding planning and the details that they bring into their wedding day. We wanted to put a new twist on that, and give couples the permission to do their day their own way!” – Julie Jagt Photography
About the flowers
“The florals from Oak and Willow were selected with a modern and colourful aesthetic in mind. The pops of yellow really make this bouquet stand out. The pairing of pink and white roses against the bright yellow Craspedia is a surprising combination and a treat for the eyes.” – Julie Jagt Photography
About the dress
“This modern gown from Fern and Moon, complete with a detachable organza skirt, is perfect for all those fashion-forward brides out there! Plus how could you not love these ultra-chic accessories, like the polka dot veil from Jane Rhyan and the cat eye sunglasses that bring the whole look together.” – Bronte Bride
About the Styling
The Margaret overskirt is a detachable train that adds delicate organza volume and length to any outfit. Remove it for dancing and you never need to think about how to bustle your gown!
The Portia Ankle skirt shows off your shoes with its elongated column shape hemmed just above the ankle. Made from stretch crepe, it’s comfortable and flexible so you can eat all the cake without feeling restricted.
Our Rowen bodysuit is made from the same stretch crepe as the Portia skirt, so it hugs and holds (like your bestie). The delicate sheer illusion tulle allows for a plunging V-neckline, and stretch spaghetti straps add comfort. A low back completes the look.
Together, these pieces combine to create a vintage-inspired wedding outfit with hints of ’50s and ’60s design. Wear these pieces again for a life after the wedding so nothing goes to waste!
For a retro look, it’s all about styling. Use accessories to further enhance your look. This vintage-inspired wedding outfit is completed with a gorgeous veil and gloves by Jane Rhyan, and accesories by Jeweliette Jewelry. If you aren’t sure about creating a look, bringing a bridal stylist in for assistance can be a creative step towards creating a cohesive, one-of-a-kind outfit.
We love how this team carries the vintage-inspired wedding look throughout the shoot. Adding decor or props (like a pink Cadillac) creates an experience for your guests. It adds to the world of your wedding, so each piece of the theme builds upon the next.
One of our favorite touches is how the hair, makeup, and florals play into the theme further, with soft pinks and retro shapes. Even the subtle details can convey your look. They elevate everything to a beautiful, cohesive style that feels intentional, effortless and put together.
If you love vintage-inspired wedding styling, photoshoots like these are a great way to collect inspiration for how to combine vintage styling with a modern wedding. Save pics, or reach out if you have any questions!
