Timing & Process

Our pieces are made to order in Vancouver BC, Canada. When you place an order we pop the bubbly (or brew the coffee depending on the hour) … and then we begin making a gown just for you.

This process takes 10 weeks from when your order is placed to when it is shipped. Allow for an additional 4-12 weeks shipping depending on your location. We recommend placing an order 26-35 weeks (6-8 months) before your wedding to leave lots of time for shipping and alterations.

If you need pieces earlier, just select an option from the dropdown menu when adding your items to the cart!

Most wedding dresses require some alterations to find your perfect fit (because not everything can be yoga pants). Our patterns were created with easy changes in mind, so your tailor can get in and out without too much hastle. Contact your local dress tailor or reputable alterationist to ensure you leave enough time for adjustments and fittings!


If you need to cancel your order, get in touch with us within 24 hours of check out. We can offer you a full refund. After 24 hours we’ll have begun work on your dress, and we can no longer offer a refund, but we can offer ideas, so feel free to get in touch all the same if you would like to hear our thoughts!


Fern & Moon ships everywhere the Postal Service delivers (the institution, not the band). So if you are in the North Pole, or the South Ocean we’ve got you covered (but also we want to hear that story).

Shipping is free for those in North America, and you’ll find international shipping costs at check out. 

Until we get on Santa’s good side, shipments outside of Canada may be subject to customs and import taxes, for which the buyer is responsible. This can cause delays, and your package may be held at the Post Office until you pick it up and pay these fees. Check out your country’s policies for more information so you know what to expect.

No matter where you live, we insure your gown for loss or damage, so please contact us if any problems arise.

Returns & Exchanges

Fern & Moon is proud to be working towards reducing waste, and made to order gowns are one of the ways we can achieve this. Due to the nature of production, we are unable to accept returns or exchanges. Fortunately, alterations are a common part of the wedding dress process, and a reputable tailor can help you find the right fit. When in doubt always choose the size up, this gives your tailor more to work with!
